Nanci Boutet is a rockstar. She is the owner of
Aquaholics surf shop in Kennebunk, Maine. Every Tuesday at 8:30, she holds her "Mom's Mornings," a morning of free lessons and rentals (board and wetsuit) for anyone who calls the shop to reserve a spot. All for free. Every week. Why does she do this? Nanci wants women to feel comfortable in what can be an intimidating, male-dominated activity. I've taken advantage of this generous offer with Nanci a few times, and each time has been a blast!! Nanci is down to earth, tough and hilarious. Expect to be greeted with questions like "How big are your boobs?" (so that she can fit you for a wetsuit,) and encouraging words like "You guys are gonna get your asses kicked!" She is fabulous, inspiring, and fun, and you should drive on over and see for yourself! Kennebunk is only about an hour and a half drive from Boston, and if you happen to live north of Boston, lucky you! Invite your girlfriends and call ahead for reservations... (207) 967-8650.
